film. So why is Ali Zafar signing up with newcomers?

"One hardly comes across good scripts. I have heard about 50 scripts since 'Tere Bin Laden'. Then finally I liked 'Mere Brother...'. Recently I have signed another film but I can't talk about that. The makers will make an announcement soon," he revealed.

Ali, who has worked as a model for several commercials in Pakistan, has also acted in Pakistani TV serials "Lunda-Bazar", "Kanch Ke Par" and teenage sitcom "Kollege Jeans".

Films apart, Ali is also focussing on music, his first love. The musician's new album "Jhoom" was recently released by Yash Raj Music in India and worldwide and by Ali's own label Alif Records in Pakistan.

"This time I have tried to make timeless music rather than something that is interesting only for a week or so. I made what my heart liked and not what I felt would be popular in the market," said Ali, who has earlier released two albums titled "Huqa Pani" and "Masty".

"As far as inspirations are concerned, I was just thinking that the music that is created today, the soul is missing, secondly it doesn't touch a chord and thirdly it has no shelf life. So I wanted the music that I compose has all of the above."

"Initially I was driven by the commercial aspect of music; now it's driven more by the spiritual aspect," he added.

"Jhoom", which has 12 tracks, took the musician three years to complete. Even though the market for non-film albums is not booming at the moment, Ali is unfazed by the trend and says he will keep trying and hope for greener pastures.

"I'm a singer, my job is to keep creating music, I can't get bogged down by the market scenario or commerce of it. I could have been if I was looking for money, but I'm not looking for money from this album.

"I'm looking to earning respect from this album. Nowadays I know releasing a non-film album is not very favourable, I wish it was. Music channels are not playing the songs, but I think it's our responsibility as artists that we don't stop doing something we believe in. I feel if you are sincere towards your music it just finds it's way into people's hearts," said Ali.

Ali Zafar and Aamir Khan are relative

Mrs Ayesha Zafar and Aamir are distant cousins Ali Zafar, the Pakistani pop star-turned-actor (Tere Bin Laden) is related to Aamir Khan? All of us are related with 6 degrees of separation. It holds true especially in case of Bollywood, which is one small happy family. But the B-Town connection of the boy from across the border was until now a well-kept secret.

Even Aamir Khan was not aware of this rishtedaar from Pakistan. Ali who is coming up with his third music album Jhoom explains, "My wife Ayesha is kind of remotely related to Aamir. I told this to Aamir when I met him recently. He was also surprised."

The newbie elaborates on his 'relative' Aamir, "Ayesha's father's cousin's mother and Aamir's mother are cousins." Ali's wife met Khan when he visited her desh. She adds, "Aamir knows my father's cousin. I met him when he came to Pakistan and I introduced myself."

The Zafars were invited to the Imran-Avantika wedding and reception but they couldn't make it both times since Ali's brother-in-law was getting married around the same time.

It has been reported that Imran Khan and Ali Zafar who are acting together in will be seen next in Yash Raj Film's My Brother's Dulhan don't see eye-to-eye.

Khan finds the newcomer brash and abrasive. Now that it is revealed that they are also related, one wonders if the cold war between them will come to an end. But let's not forget there is something called sibling rivalry!

Ali zafar sponsoring higher education for 40 girls

Ali Zafar was recently present at an art auction event held in Lahore, and was apparently the highest bidder for a painting. The art auction event was held by Sanjan Nagar to educate under privileged girls in acquiring advanced education. Ali Zafar who is an art lover himself when heard about the cause of the auction, started bidding for the painting, in tough competition with other gentleman but Ali didn’t give up until he bought the painting apparently for almost a million Pakistani Rupees.

Sources say that Ali didn’t think twice about attending the event when he heard about the cause and ended up sponsoring higher education for 40 girls.

The event was held to support the education of these under privileged girls whose parents being poor couldn’t afford their education, are now going to be studying sciences like neurology, medical and even strive to be an astronauts.

Ali’s PR person responded that he didn’t want to take any credit as he thinks it was his duty like every other individual whose been granted the means and power to give to his society, reports Pakistan Today.

Ali who himself was not very rich when he entered the entertainment business, and was a simple kid coming from a middle class background of two university professors as parents, has been painting since his child hood and used to speed-paint charcoal portraits in a hotel lobby to raise money for his music by selling them for Rs 500 a piece. Seems like now after receiving the success as an artist (painter, singer, model & actor) has not forgotten his roots and continues to support his people at home, proving to be an inspiration for all his countrymen.
