Salman jumps from 10, 000 feet

Bollywood's "Dabangg" actor Salman Khan will be seen doing a daredevil stunt in PepsiCo's new Mountain Dew ad - he jumps from 10, 000 feet in a "wingsuit" from which a parachute springs open. "Everyone is afraid of something or the other at some point of his or her life. But if you try to run away from fear, you'd be tired and eventually fear will win. So the best way to overcome fear is to face it, run through it because 'Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai'," Salman said in a statement.

Salman was initially not so sure about the stunt but he eventually did it. Wingsuit flying is a new sport of flying through the air in a special jumpsuit and pulling the parachute's ripcord as one apporaches the ground.

He is said to be the first celebrity brand ambassador roped in by Mountain Dew. Alpana Titus, category marketing director (flavoured carbonated drinks), PepsiCo India Beverages, says the new campaign is quite big in terms of quality and budget.

Salman has jumped from a mountain which was 10, 000 feet high. He did have jitters initially but was confident it would work out well and he would be able to overcome his fears in turn," she said.

When asked why Salman was chosen out of all the known faces, Titus said: "Salman was our first choice because he embodies our (Mountain Dew's) tagline 'Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai' accurately and he also has a nationwide fan following. People in not only the metros but also the remote areas follow him.

Salman khan supersized for No Entry sequel

It is no secret that Salman's larger than life persona has gained even more in stature thanks to his dream run in 2010. And to make room for the plus-sized star, producer Boney Kapoor and director Anees Bazmee, have sent the script of the sequel to No Entry back to the drawing board with very strict instructions: make room for more Salman Khan, much more. A reason why it will no longer be a three-star project starring Anil Kapoor- Fardeen Khan and Salman Khan, but an out and out Salman comedy.

Bazmee who is currently shooting with Salman in Bangkok confirms the developments, saying, "We've scrapped the original idea of a sequel. I'm writing a new version of New Entry Mein Entry which will have a lot more of Salman Khan than the original."

Says Bazmee, this is being done to appease the growing tribe of Salman fans. "His fans will be delighted with his role in the film," he assures.

This is also an opportunity for Boney Kapoor to express his gratitude for the star who has often come to his rescue.

In 2005 when Kapoor's production company had gone into the red, Salman rushed forward to lend his brand value for free in No Entry, even after the core-cast had already been finalised.

The extended cameo designed for Salman actually saved the day. Four years later Salman starred in Kapoor's Wanted and shook up the box office. And after last year's much-delayed Milenge Milenge tanked, it reaffirmed Kapoor's conviction in his lucky mascot.

Salman was supposed to make a guest appearance as the narrator, but had walked out after a spat with Shahid. With the sequel to No Entry, Kapoor is not taking any chances. Adds Bazmee, "Salman had done No Entry as a goodwill gesture.

Salman Khan comes to rescue Farah khan

Farah Khan’s recent released film Tees Maar Khan did not do very well at the box office. There could be many reasons behind it but what is mostly said and talked is the absence of Shah Rukh Khan in the film. There was a time when Farah Khan said that she would not make a single film without the King Khan. She made Tees Maar Khan and it went low in business as compared to her previous films like Om Shanti Om in which SRK played a role of protagonist.

At this situation Salman Khan comes to rescue Farah. He tells director Farah Khan that he's willing to sign her next film even if no other actor is. After Tees Maar Khan, speculation is rife about Farah Khan's next film. Will she go back to Shah Rukh Khan? Will Akshay Kumar act in her next?

Or will be it a film with newcomers like Karan Johar is making? Or will it be Salman Khan, who did a cameo in her last film. An industry source says, "After the release of Tees Maar Khan when Salman heard that Farah Khan was feeling low, he called her and told her to start writing her next film, and that he would star in it, whenever it was ready."

Most actors would think twice before working with a director whose last was panned by critics, but Sallu has no such reservations. Says a source, "Salman goes out of his way to help anyone he loves.

It's not all business with him. When he heard from mutual friends that Farah was feeling down because people were pulling her film down, he called her and told her that he would act in her next.

And he said that if she didn't have a script, he would even provide a script that he likes, and she can direct it."

This happened before he left for his birthday in Dubai. The insider adds, "It was an emotional talk between Farah and Salman and she was extremely touched."

Farah says, "It's not true. I have just started writing my next film. I am not even thinking of casting till the script is fabulous and fully locked.

I met Salman only at the Screen Awards last week. Tees Maar Khan is a hit. Why would I need helping out?"

Salman khan is the ultimate Prem on rajshri

Rajshri Productions have broken their tradition of calling their lead protagonist as 'Prem'. Though for decades, the leading man in a Barjatya production has always been known as 'Prem', in ISI LIFE MEIN debutant Akshay Oberoi is called Vivaan. If one was expecting Akshay to be disheartened about it, this is not the case as he truly believes that there is one and only original Prem - Salman Khan.

"I have no qualms whatsoever if I am called Vivaan and not Prem in the film," says Akshay who has earlier acted as a child artist in a crossover film called AMERICAN CHAI. "I think the name 'Prem' is very iconic for Sooraj Barjatya and Salman bhai."

Barjatyas have made exceptions to the rule though. In their productions which haven't featured Salman Khan, their central protagonists have been called Prem, case in point being Hrithik Roshan/ Abhishek Bachchan [MAIN PREM KI DIWANI HOON], Shahid Kapoor [VIVAH] and Sonu Sood [EK VIVAAH AISA BHI]. On the other hand prior to these films, each of the Salman Khan starrers - MAINE PYAAR KIYA, HUM AAPKE HAIN KAUN and HUM SAATH SAATH HAI had featured him as Prem.

"However if you ask me, this is one name that is reserved for him", says Akshay, "As a Salman fan, I truly believe that he is the ultimate Prem."

The transformation though has come not just in the name but also the characterisation. While 'Prem' is an icon of someone who is humble, modest, shy and a little quiet, there are different shades that Vivaan carries in ISI LIFE MEIN.

"Yes, it's an altogether different Prem that you would see in a Rajshri film this time around with ISI LIFE MEIN", assures Akshay.

Also marking the debut of Sandeepa Dhar as the leading lady, ISI LIFE MEIN is directed by first timer Vidhi and releases all over on 24th December.

salman Khan rejects King Khan's apology

Seems like Salman Khan is in no mood to forgive and forget! After Shah Rukh Khan apologised to the Dabangg actor on Koffee With Karan, Salman is not ready to forgive King Khan, according to media reports. Bollywood's enfant terrible Salman, who is known to keep grudges against people for a long time, has not accepted SRK's apology. Salman believes that if SRK really wanted to apologise, he would've done that personally and not on television. "If Shah Rukh wanted to say sorry, he should have called me or come to my place, he choose to say in public which I think is not proper. I know he will never say what happened that night," according to the source.

Apparently, the feud started when SRK made a remark on Salman and Katrina which did not go down too well with Salman. Well, we hope that Salman eases his anger and lets go of the issue with magnanimity.
