Toshiba Glasses-Less 3D Laptop

Toshiba is on a mission to eliminate those funky glasses that are required to watch stereo 3D content. You might remember the Toshiba Regza GL1 glasses-less 3D TV shown at Ceatec last October. This time, we had the opportunity to play with a glasses-less (stereo) 3D laptop, and unlike the Regza GL1, the laptop is *very good* at displaying 2D content and 3D content. This is very promising, not only for computers, but possibly for TVs as well. There’s a trick: Toshiba uses the webcam to track the user’s eyes, and that’s how it can adjust the stereo 3D effect to look best. If would be difficult to make this work for more than one user, but for a laptop, that’s not really a problem. The technology still needs work, but the 3D effect looked very good, and if Toshiba can work the kinks out and field it, maybe stereo 3D would really take off.
